Ganesh Chaturthi
Lord Ganesh, also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, and Pillaiyar, is a highly revered deity in Hinduism. His image is widely seen across India, and he is worshipped by various Hindu denominations regardless of their affiliations.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated for a whole 11 days. It begins in Chaturthi when people install the statue of Lord Ganesha in their homes and temples. This festival ends on Anant Chaturdashi with Ganesh Visarjan. The devotees of the Lord Ganesha offer their prayers to God.
Steps To Draw Lord Ganesha
You can preview the quick demo in the image below. For detailed step-by-step instructions, follow the guidance provided below.
Step 1: Rough Sketch
Let’s begin by sketching a rough outline of Lord Ganesh. Draw a full circle and next to it another circle that roughly connects to the first one as shown in the image above. Use a pencil for this rough sketch as we’ll erase it later.
Step 2: Draw Rough Outline Of Head And Ears
Since Ganesh Ji has long, flat ears resembling an elephant’s, sketch two ovals roughly following the image above on the left and right sides. Use a pencil for this rough sketch, as we’ll erase it later.
Step 3: Draw Ganesha Crown
Next, draw a curved line at the top to create Lord Ganesha’s crown following the reference lines or rough lines from Step 1. To achieve a clean and realistic look, you can use a black marker to outline the crown.
Step 4: Draw Crown Top
Likewise, draw two more curved lines fairly, creating an intersecting shape at the center just like the image above. On both sides, outline curved lines to form Ganesha’s face. Ensure the lines intersect correctly as shown.
Step 5: Draw Lord Ganesha Ears
While drawing Lord Ganesha’s face, create large, curving ears like those of an elephant. Use the reference lines from Step 2 to guide you in shaping the ears as shown in the image above.
Step 6: Complete Ganesh Crown
To finish Lord Ganesha crown, draw a flower shape on top of the crown following the image above. Start by sketching a wavy line from the crown left part to the right part of the crown.
Step 7: Draw Ganesha Trunk and Tusk
As we know, Lord Ganesha’s face has a tusk and a trunk. Draw a small trunk and two tusks on Ganesha face as shown in the image above.
Step 8: Draw Lord Ganesh Left Hand
We just finished drawing Lord Ganesha face. Now draw the right hand of the Ganesha as shown in the image above. Here we draw the shoulder and arm of the Lord Ganesha.
Step 9: Draw Lord Ganesh Fingers
Next, draw a finger on Lord Ganesha hand following the image above. Here from the arm, we sketch the hand of lord Ganesh.
Step 10: Draw Another Hand
Similarly, draw another hand of lord ganesha as in the image above. Here we draw the arm and the hand of the Lord Ganesha. Also, draw a finger on the Ganesha hand as shown in the image above.
Step 11: Drawing a Lord Ganesha Belly
Next, draw Lord Ganesh round belly following the image above. For a clean and realistic look, use a black marker to outline the belly. Then, roughly draw an oval touching the body of Lord Ganesha.
Step 12: Drawing Lord Ganesh Left Leg
Now draw the left leg of the lord ganesha as in the image above. Here we draw two curved lines to make the leg of Ganesha and also draw the shoe of lord ganesha as shown in the image above.
Step 13: Draw Lord Ganesh Right Leg
Now, draw the left leg of Lord Ganesha following the image above. Use two curved lines to create the leg and also draw the shoe of Lord Ganesha as shown in the image.
Step 14: Draw Ganesh Dhoti
Now draw the lower body part of the Ganesh as in the image above. Here we draw a dhoti ( a piece of Indian cloth).
Step 15: Erase Rough Part
After completing the drawing, erase all the rough lines that were drawn in earlier steps. Since these lines were drawn with a pencil, you can easily erase them using an eraser.
Step 16: Drawing a Texture
After completing the Lord Ganesh drawing, add texture to the ear, dhoti (garment), body, and crown by drawing small lines or dots as demonstrated in the image above.
Step 17: Draw Tika and More Texture
For the finishing touch, draw the tika on the head of Lord Ganesh as shown in the image above. Additionally, add some texture to the crown and trunk by drawing small lines.
Step 18: Draw Ganesh Ji Eyes and Eyebrows
To complete the drawing, add Lord Ganesha’s eyes and eyebrows as shown in the image above. Begin by drawing two half-oval shapes. Inside these ovals, draw two dark eyeballs. Then, draw the eyebrows with a dark outline. Finally, we have our Lord Ganesha blessing our lives.
Coloring Lord Ganesh
After completing the Lord Ganesh drawing, it’s time to move on to coloring. For coloring, we chose some basic colors.
For Ganesh’s crown, use a cheerful yellow, and add some depth with dark orange. The body should be filled with a gentle light pink, and his hair can be colored brown. Bring vibrancy to the tika, crown, and belt with a bright red shade. Apply a warm orange tone to the dhoti and hand bracelet, and for the shoes, a light red hue works well.
You can choose to follow these color suggestions or unleash your creativity by using your favorite colors as you wish.
Colour Details:
- Light Pink
- Yellow
- Orange
- Red
- Light Red
- Dark Orange
- Brown
After coloring, we get a realistic Lord Ganesha. You can use a pencil color (we made it digital).
