Steps to Draw Mario
Here’s a quick look at our step-by-step guide: We’ll start with simple sketching steps and complete it by adding color to make Mario look bright and fun. Grab your pencil and drawing paper and start the process.
Step 1: Draw the Head Shape
Begin by sketching Mario’s head. Sketch an oval shape that’s slightly wider at the top, with a small bump at the bottom right—this bump represents his cheek, which will be clear in the further processes.
Step 2: Sketch the Raised Arm
On the left side of the head, draw an upward curve for a raised arm as shown in the image. It should come up and around the head; we will later add his gloves to give a natural look.
Step 3: Add the Glove
Now, draw Mario’s glove at the top of his raised arm. Make the glove look big and round, with a simple thumb shape. This will show Mario’s hand in a powerful, action pose.
Step 4: Sketch the Hat Outline
Add the arc of the hat from behind the raised fist, curving it down around the head. Make sure it’s rounded at the top and comes down to the right side of the head. Draw a circle in the middle of the curved line for the hat detail.
Step 5: Draw the Fingers
Inside the glove, draw three curved lines to show Mario’s fingers. These lines should slightly overlap the thumb, making it look like his hand is clenched into a fist.
Step 6: Outline the Background
Draw a large circle around Mario’s head, connecting behind him to create a background shape. This circle should look like he’s popping out of a hole or jumping through it.
