Steps To Draw Water
Here is a short preview of today’s tutorial in the image below. We’ll walk you through step-by-step instructions on how to draw water, focusing on creating a splash effect, with simple lines and shapes to make the process fun and engaging. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Draw the First Splash
Start by sketching a small curved line, almost like a sideways “S” shape. This will be the first part of the water splash.
Step 2: Add Another Splash Extension
On the right side of the first curve, draw a slightly thicker curve that resembles the shape of a fish’s back to further expand the splash. This makes it look like water is splashing outward.
Step 3: Complete the Base of the Splash
Continue to add more curved lines underneath to form the base. The splash should look like it’s growing outward.
Step 4: Continue Adding Extra Texture
Add a curved line from the left side to add extra texture, this will enhance the overall detail of the water splash.
Step 5: Connect the Splashes
From the left side, draw a curve that mimics the shape of a fish’s back to connect the splashes, creating a flowing appearance, just like the curve we drew in Step 2 on the right side.
Step 6: Sketch the Water Drop Outline
Outline the water droplet. Above the splash, draw a large teardrop shape to represent the droplet, featuring a pointed top and a rounded bottom
Step 7: Add Extra Splash Details
Around the side of the water drop, add a smaller circle shape on both sides for extra splash details. This will give more extra appearance to our drawing.
Step 8: Draw Reflections on The Water Droplet
Inside the water drop, add some small curved lines following the shape of the drop to represent reflections and make it look shiny. Add small dots at the bottom, along with the extra lines, to make the design more detailed.
Step 9: Finalize the Splash Details
Inside the water drop, add three smooth, curved lines on the right side to give it more detail. Sketch the line light and then any other details to enhance the look. Finally, this process will complete our drawing process. Let’s start the coloring process now, focusing on adding colors to give our sketch a more vibrant look.
Coloring The Water
After sketching the small water splash, we are now ready for some color. We have used a basic blue color in our drawing. Let’s more into it.
We began by applying a darker shade of blue to the left corner. Next, we added a lighter shade of blue to the surrounding areas. For the splash, we used a light blue color, enhancing it with the color white to highlight the details and create a more dynamic effect.
Color Details :
- Light Shade of Blue
- Sky Blue
- White
Finally, we have completed the coloring process. We hope you enjoyed the process. For the coloring process, we have used pencil colors; you can use any of your preferences, like crayon or watercolor. But we suggest you use a pencil to not mess up the sketch.
If u are interested in making a bolder effect, trace the sketch with a black marker. This will enhance the lines and make the drawing stand out more.
Our Art Is Ready
Our final artwork featuring the water splash is now complete! The blue tones, carefully blended from light to dark, give the splash a motion look. We hope you enjoy both the drawing and coloring process.
