Start by drawing a half-rectangle with slightly curved edges to represent the character’s body as shown in the picture.

Step 2: Complete Outlining

From the left side of the half-rectangle you just drew, sketch another smaller rectangle shape extending downwards.

Step 3: Add the Lower Body

Create a smaller rectangle to represent Spongebob pants and leg area. However, don’t draw the line completely of this rectangle because we will add more details later.

Step 4: Draw The Hands

Draw two thin, curved lines extending outward from both sides (left and right) to represent the arms. At the end of the arm, sketch a rounded shape for the hand. Add three fingers and a thumb to the hand, making it look natural.

Step 5: Sketch The Legs

Just below the bottom of the main rectangle, outline two oval shapes to represent SpongeBob’s pants, then draw two parallel lines to extend the legs.

Add a simple collar around the neck area and draw the base of the tie. Below the tie’s base, draw four small rectangles in a row, as shown in the picture. These rectangles represent the buttons on the Spongebob’s shirt.

Step 8: Sketch Nose And Mouth

Now, draw an oval-shaped nose pointing to the left side. Then, add the curved line below the nose to represent his smile. Inside the mouth draw a W-shaped to represent the tongue, and also add two small rectangular shapes for teeth.

Step 9: Draw The Eyes

Finally, complete this drawing by adding tiny holes covering his body to give him a spongy appearance similar to a real sea sponge.

Coloring The SpongeBob

After finishing the drawing, we wanted to add some colors to make it more enjoyable. Here, we have used basic colors, like the real cartoon character.

Color Details:

  • Yellow
  • Blue
  • Red
  • Brown
  • Black
  • Dark Green

We have started by using yellow in the body of the character. A blue color has been used inside his eyes. Maroon color can be seen inside his mouth and pink color has been used fo rhis tongue. We then used a bright red color in his tie and some parts of his shocks.

Continuing the coloring process, we have colored his pants with brown, and we have colored black for the texture. For details in Spongebob’s body, we have used a darker shade of green.
