Tiger is the largest and one of the strongest animals in the jungle. Tigers are very dangerous as the are carnivorous animals. In this tutorial, we are learning how you can draw a tiger for kids.
Tigers are large cats with muscular bodies, short legs, and wide front paws. They have reddish-orange coats with prominent black stripes, white bellies, and white spots on their ears. In this tutorial, we will show you step by step guide for drawing a tiger.

Steps To Draw A Tiger
Tigers typically have four legs, two eyes, two ears, and a tail. They can be found in a variety of colors, including shades of orange, and white, and with distinctive blue stripes.
Here’s a quick preview of today’s tutorial, and you can also follow our YouTube tutorial for detailed instructions. Follow the steps below to easily draw a tiger step by step.
Step 1: Drawing the Rough Outline
We begin by making some rough lines. Draw an oval shape loosely like the one in the picture above. You can use a pencil for these initial lines since we’ll erase them in the next steps.
Step 2: Creating the Tiger Basic Body Shape
Next, sketch the main body of the tiger. Create a curved line to represent the tiger’s back. Then, draw the front and back legs. Don’t worry about precision at this stage; it’s a rough outline.
Step 3: Drawing the Tiger Head and Ears
Now, using a pen or marker, draw the tiger head within the circle we previously created in Step 1. Add two ears at the top by drawing small half circles on the right and left sides of the head. Inside each ear, draw another small half circle. In between the ears, add some small hairs pointing to the sides. Follow the reference lines we drew earlier to sketch as shown in the image above.
Step 4: Drawing the Forlegs
Continuing, let’s work on the forelegs of the tiger. Begin by sketching the foreleg and shaping them with curves for the paws and claws. Repeat the same steps for the other leg. Make the legs somewhat elongated, and in the middle of each leg, add a slight curve to depict the furry chest of the tiger. Remember to follow the reference lines we drew earlier.
Step 5: Drawing the Hind Legs, Tail, and Body
Now, draw the hind legs of the tiger. For the right leg, use the reference lines we sketched earlier as a guide. For the left leg, draw a small curve as shown in the image above. Additionally, create a curved line for the tiger’s back and similarly, draw a long tail as depicted in the image above. Inside the body, add a slightly curved line to represent the stomach and the furry chest of the cute tiger.
Step 6: Erase the Rough Lines
Then, erase the rough lines that were drawn in the earlier steps (Steps 1 & 2). Finally, we get a cleaner outline of our cute tiger.
Step 7: Adding Texture
Now, proceed to fill in the black color on the sides of the ears and the face. In the cheek area, draw four pointed bold black lines, and on the forehead, create a shape resembling the letter ‘M’ followed by a smaller ‘r’-like shape; make sure to color them black. For the body, draw pointed lines on the tiger’s back and legs, then color them black. For the tail, follow the same pattern by drawing lines and filling them in black, leaving the middle part as it is, as shown in the drawing above.
Step 8: Detailing the Tiger’s Face
Finally, for the tiger’s face, draw a small circle for the endearing eyes. Inside the eyes, add another small circle for the pupils, and above the eyes, draw eyebrows. Now, create an oval-like shape for the nose, and within it, draw a small circle as shown in the picture. For the mouth of the tiger, draw a shape resembling the letter ‘w.’ Don’t forget to add whiskers on the cheeks, and on the side of the mouth following the drawing above.
Coloring a Tiger
After completing our tutorial on drawing the adorable tiger, it’s time to move on to the coloring stage. We’ve chosen some basic colors, but feel free to use your preferences for coloring.
We’ve colored the tiger’s body in orange, the inside of the ears in light pink, and the mouth and belly in white.
