Steps To Draw A Book
Books are essential in our daily lives, whether for reading or learning. In this tutorial, you’ll learn to draw a book as shown in the picture below. Look at the image below to have a basic knowledge of today’s drawing. Follow the steps given below to create your book drawing.
Step 1: Sketch The Bottom of The Book
Start by drawing a slightly curved horizontal line for the top edge. Add two short vertical lines on each end of this line, curving slightly inward. Connect the bottom of these lines with a wavy line to create the bottom edge, giving the appearance of an open book.
Step 2: Add the Cover
Draw a diagonal line extending upwards from the right side of the book, slightly tilted to form the top edge of the cover. Connect this diagonal line back to the spine with another curved line to indicate the thickness of the book.
Step 3: Slightly Add the Bottom of the Second Book
On the right side of the book, draw a small rectangular shape, layering the book with a wavy edge to represent the shape of another book.
Step 4: Draw The Second Book
Sketch the second book underneath the first one by creating a similar shape. Ensure this second book overlaps the first one slightly, showing part of its cover and bottom part. This layering effect will make your drawing more dynamic.
Step 5: Add Texture
Make the two straight lines on the left side of both books, as it gives a texture and also a natural look to the book cover.
Step 6: Sketch Details For The Thickness of Books
Add lines at the bottom of the book to indicate the thickness, making sure it’s visible under the first book. If you are confused regarding the guide, follow the picture we have drawn above.
Step 7: Add The Page of the First Book
Add a few curved lines inside the top book to represent the pages. This step gives texture and depth to your books.
Step 8: Draw The Pages in The Second Book
Following the same step as above, draw curved lines inside the book for the pages. It will complete the look of the layered book as well. Erase any unnecessary or overlapping lines to clean up the drawing.
This is the final step in the drawing. However, let’s proceed to coloring to add more depth to the completed drawing and make it more realistic. Color is going to add a layer of liveliness to the image, and the edges appear to be more detailed, making the books seem real. Well then, let the colors roll in and get ready to add those little finishing touches.
Coloring The Book
By following this coloring process, you’ll give the books a realistic appearance with colorful and engaging details.
We started by coloring the top book in a bright blue shade, filling in the cover while leaving the edges of the pages uncolored. This helps to differentiate the cover from the pages, making the book look more realistic. Next, we moved on to the second book. We used a warm orange color for the cover, making sure to blend the colors smoothly to create a fine look. The pages were again uncolored to maintain the look between the two books.
Color Details:
- Blue
- Orange
This will complete the coloring process of the book. We have used basic color to not mess up the drawing, you can use color of your own choice as well. If your kid is following the process, we suggest you use pencil color to enjoy the process. To add more depth to your drawing,, outline it with a marker for a bolder, more defined look.
