The bansuri is a flute crafted from a single piece of bamboo. It holds a significant place in Hindu culture and is associated with Lord Krishna. Today in this tutorial we are going to draw a bansuri. We also have a drawing tutorial video.
Bansuri is commonly used by experts to create a variety of different tones and to compose music. But as a child playing a bansuri will be fun even though, you can’t create music like an expert. While learning to draw a bansuri will be more fun. By the end of this tutorial, you will learn to draw a great bansuri.

Steps To Draw A Bansuri
You can follow our video tutorial or watch a brief demonstration in the image below. For more detailed instructions, follow the step-by-step guide below.
Step 1: Draw Two Parallel Lines
We’ll begin by drawing two parallel lines that are slightly inclined. You can use a ruler for precision or draw them freehand.
Step 2: Creating the Pipe Look
Next, connect the back of our bansuri by drawing a curved line. On the opposite side, draw another curve to represent the open hole creating the appearance of a pipe as in the guidance above.
Step 3: Drawing Air Holes
Next, draw a single circle at the top to create the bansuri’s blowing hole as shown in the image above. After that, draw three circles near each other to form fingering holes, and repeat the same step for a second set of three circles to represent fingering holes in the bansuri.
Step 4: Drawing A Strips
To make the bansuri look more realistic, add two strips at the top and one behind the blowing hole. Also, draw another strip at the bottom of the bansuri.
Step 4: Draw a Thread
We already added a lot of stuff like strips on our bansuri to look so realistic. Next, let’s add a thread to the top just like the one on Lord Krishna’s bansuri as in the picture above.
Coloring the Bansuri
We’ve completed the bansuri drawing, our next step is to color it. We’ve chosen a set of basic colors for the coloring part.
We’re giving the bansuri its traditional yellow color. The holes are colored brown, and we’re using orange for the strips. You can also select colors according to your preference. You can play with color yourself after you complete your drawing.
Color Details:
Yellow
Orange
Brown
After coloring, we get realistic bansuri. You can use a pencil color (we made it digital).
