Steps To Draw Watermelon
We also have a video tutorial, you can either follow our video tutorial or the stepwise detailed instructions below. Here you can see a short preview of today’s tutorial.
Step 1: Draw a Half Slice Of Watermelon
Begin by drawing a perfect semicircle as shown in the image above. We just outline the slice of watermelon. You can use a compass or any circular object to help create the semicircle.
Step 2: Outline a Watermelon
Next, draw a small circle behind the semicircle we drew earlier as shown in the picture above. This represents the full watermelon behind a slice of a smaller watermelon.
Step 3: Draw Watermelon Peel And Rind
The outer layer of a watermelon is known as the peel or skin, and following that, the white layer is considered the rind. The inner layer is known as the flesh, which is juicy and edible. Now, draw two curves inside the half slice of the melon to represent the peel, rind, and flesh as shown in the image above.
Step 4: Draw Texture to Whole Watermelon
After that, draw some irregular lines on the right side of the full circle or whole watermelon to give it a realistic look as shown in the image above.
Step 5: Draw More Lines On Right Side
Similarly, draw some more irregular lines on the left side of the watermelon for texture as shown in the image above.
Step 6: Draw Watermelon Seeds
Now, draw the watermelon seeds in the slice of watermelon as shown in the image above. Additionally, draw the stem of the whole watermelon as depicted in the image.
Finally, we’ve drawn a watermelon with its slice on its side. Now, let’s move forward with colouring a watermelon.
Coloring a Watermelon
After completing the drawing of the watermelon, let’s move forward with coloring. We have chosen some basic colors for reference.
We colored the peel of the watermelon with green and dark green shades. The flesh of the watermelon is filled with red, and the rind layer is given a lime color. Feel free to choose and fill colors according to your preference as well.
Colour Details:
- Green
- Red
- Dark Green
- Lime
After colouring, we get a watermelon with its slice. You can use a pencil colour(we made it digital). Isn’t it look so realistic?
