Summer is a season of vibrancy, activity, and natural beauty. Here, we will represent a tropical summer beach. In this article, we will learn to draw summer season scenery in simple steps.
In today’s drawing, you will find a scene with a small tropical island, a surfboard standing in the sand, and a tree with fronds spread wide, all under a bright sun. Ocean waves surround the island, enhancing the relaxing summer beach atmosphere.

Steps To Draw Summer
Today’s tutorial provides a simple guide for drawing a summer vibe. Here is a short preview of today’s drawing tutorial. By the end of the tutorial, you’ll have a well-sketched summer scene and will have a better understanding of drawing techniques. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Draw The Base
First, sketch two lines from left and right at a certain distance, then connect them with a curved line to represent the base of the island as given in the image.
Step 2: Add a Surfboard
Then, sketch a long, vertical shape, pointing upward lines for a surfboard. Make sure the top of the board is slightly pointed, while the button should be inside the base. In the middle of the surfboard, draw a straight line for detail.
Step 3: Create Details on Sand
As shown in the image, draw some lines near the surfboard for the details, making it look like it is inside the sand. Then, add some dots and a short line representing sand and grass.
Step 4: Outline The Trunk of The Tree
Now, from the side of the board, draw a curved line facing upward for the trunk of the tree we often see on the island. To add details, sketch some lines inside of it.
Step 5: Add the Fronds
At the top of the trunk, draw several curved lines extending outward to represent the central stems of the fronds, as shown in the picture above.
Step 6: Sketch The Leaves
On each of the fronds, sketch the leaves, the short and the curved ones, on each side. These lines should start narrow at the stem and widen as they extend outward.
Step 7: Complete Drawing The Leaves
Following the same steps above, add more leaves on the left side. While adding it carefully, draw a circle inside of it to represent the coconut on the tree. You can take reference from the picture we have created.
Step 8: Draw The Sun
Sketch the simple circle above the tree to represent the sun. Ensure it is placed in the right position to complete the scene.
Step 9: Add Details of Ocean
Draw a few wavy lines from the island’s backside to indicate the ocean. These lines should be horizontal and give the impression of water. Make sure your drawing is perfect, as this will complete our drawing process.
If you are interested in adding a touch of color, follow the guide below. Let’s enjoy coloring as well.
Coloring The Summer
Coloring the sketch will clearly change its look and make it perfect. We have used some basic colors to give it a clear look.
First, we began the process by using blue for the background. Also, you can see some waves that have been colored white. Then, we used a darker shade of blue for the waves of the water than the background. Red has been used on the surfboard, and yellow has been used in the sun.
We have used cream color for the sand, as you can see in the picture. Again, we have used brown for the trunk, and a darker shade of brown has been used for the coconut. Finally, we have completed the process using green for the leaves. For green, you can use a darker shade or just some green you have. If you feel something is incomplete, you can use the color of your choice.
Color Details:
- Blue
- Light Blue
- Red
- Yellow
- Cream
- Green
- Brown
- Dark Brown
Finally, the whole process is complete, and the summer scene is ready with a touch of color. We simply put the summer with a clear ocean, surfboards, and a summer vacation vibe. We have used pencil colors for the coloring part, but you can use any of your preferences to make it more fun. We recommend you use pencil colors.
