Step 1: Outline First Ribs

Let’s start by sketching the first rib of our pumpkin. Here we draw or semi-half circle shape to make the first rib of pumpkin. We are using a black marker but for beginners, we prefer to use a pencil.

Step 2: Draw Second Ribs

Next, extend the line from the top and bottom to make the second ribs of our pumpkin. We also leave a small gap between the curved lines to show the realistic ribs of our pumpkin. If you are using a pencil, you can erase and make a gap easily.

Step 3: Add Third Ribs

Similarly from the left side, extend both lines to draw the third ribs of our pumpkin. It’s very easy as we are repeating the steps. Here also we left some small gaps in between the curve lines from top and bottom.

Step 4: Draw Right Ribs

Again, on the right side of our pumpkin extend the line to make the pumpkin outline and finally, we have completed all the ribs of our pumpkin. Look we create the pumpkin’s bumps at the bottom just by following the above steps.

Step 5: Draw Stem At Center

Now, at the top draw two curved lines to form the stem of our pumpkin and join them by sketching a small circle at the top. Make it slightly thicker at the base for realism.

Step 6: Add Two Ribs

Then, from the left and right just sketch two lines to make another two ribs of our pumpkin. Wow, we can see we are making a realistic pumpkin just by adding ribs.

Step 7: Sketch Ribs Texture

Finally, sketched small lines behind the stem to complete our pumpkin and by this, we have added a bumpy texture to our pumpkin. Wow, it was a very easy and fun tutorial so we hope you guys also enjoy this drawing lesson.

Coloring a Pumpkin

After finishing the drawing, we wanted to add some colors that would bring it to life and make it more enjoyable. Here, we have used a common orange color for our pumpkin.

We colored different shades of orange like dark and light orange on the ribs of the pumpkin. And on the stem, we colored cream color to match the drawing.

Color Details:

  • Light Orange
  • Orange
  • Cream
