Steps to Draw Wolverine
Wolverine, with his distinct costume and look, is an exciting fictional character to draw. Let’s learn to draw Wolverine together. Here’s a brief preview of today’s tutorial. Please go through the instructions step by step to complete your sketching.
Step 1: Sketch The Ears Of The Mask
Start by drawing two curved, pointy shapes on each side, resembling bat wings. These will be the top parts of Wolverine’s mask, as seen in the picture above.
Step 2: Draw The Head
Connecting the mask’s shape, draw a slightly rounded shape to represent the head of the character, as given in the image.
Step 3: Position The T-Shirt
Just below the head, sketch a rectangle shape to represent the character’s t-shirt. This simple step will later play a great role in adding detail to the character’s body shape.
Step 4: Draw To Lines Outward
From the bottom of the t-shirt, extend two lines outward to later draw the shape of the character’s legs. These steps are just the outline. Just below the t-shirt, draw another oval-like shape to separate the upper and lower parts of the body.
Step 5: Outline the Torso and Legs
From the two curved lines outward, draw lines coming back inward, forming the torso. Below the torso, draw two short, rounded shapes for the legs. Now, this step has given a better look at the character’s body shape. If you are confused in any part, follow the sample image given above.
Step 6: Draw Left Arms And Hand
Start by drawing two lines extending outward from the left side of the upper body to represent the arms. Next, sketch a small round shape at the end of each arm to indicate the hands. Then, add details to show that the hands are making fists.
Step 7: Sketch Right Hand
Using the same approach as step six, draw the right hand of the character in a fist position. It will make both hands look similar.
Step 8: Position The Claws
Draw the claws extending from the tips of the fingers. Make sure they’re aligned with the fists and look like they’re ready to strike. While adding the claws, also draw some detailed lines in the head and the face of the characters. Sketch two C-shaped lines on the right and left side, as shown in the image, and also add two lines below the mask.
Step 9: Draw The Eyes
Draw two ovals inside the mask to represent the eyes. Keep the ovals simple without adding any details.
Step 10: Sketch The Mouth
Draw a rough, jagged shape for the mouth. Make it look like a sharp, irregular line to give the character a fierce or intense expression, as shown in the picture above. If you create a proper experience in the character’s mouth, then your drawing itself has realistic features.
Step 11: Add Details
Add extra lines to the mask, body, and claws to enhance details and definition. Include a belt and an “X” logo on the torso and the shirt. Also, add details to the lower body to make the character’s boots visible. Erase the extra line to finally complete your drawing process. Make sure you have placed everything in the right position for a perfect sketch of Wolverine.
If you want to enhance your character, follow the coloring process to bring it to life.
Coloring The Wolverine
We studied the real characters closely and used the same colors. However, you can choose colors based on your own preference.
We have used yellow to color the head, upper body, and inner part of the boots. Then, a dark blue color was used in the face mask, on the side of the character’s dresses, and on the outer part of the boots. For the belt and the gloves, we have used the same shade of blue. For extra details, we have used black color. Additionally, you can also use white color for the eyes and the teeth.
Color Details:
- Blue
- Yellow
- Black
- White (Alternative)
Finally, the colouring process is complete. We have used basic pencil color for the process you can use your preferences, but we recommend you use pencil color for a better look of the character.
