How To Draw Patrick Step By Step

Patrick Star is a main character from the popular animated television series “SpongeBob SquarePants.” Today in this tutorial, we will learn to draw Patrick.

Steps To Draw Patrick

Here we have brief instructions for today’s tutorial and we attached pictures to complete your sketching easily.  Follow the steps given to draw Patrick step by step and by the end of this tutorial, you will learn to draw it perfectly.

Step 1: Roughly outline a U-shaped

Start by drawing a slightly wide U-shape for the character’s lower body part. This reference will help us proceed with our drawing in an easy way. We are using a pencil to sketch these rough parts.

Step 2: Draw Center Body

Following the roughly drawn U-shape, sketch an upside-down triangle as shown in the picture. Slightly curve the sides of the triangle inward to give Patrick his characteristic pudgy look.

Then, draw arms from both sides. Add shorts to the bottom by drawing a rectangle shape, and from the side of the shorts, next draw two pattern lines for the legs of the character. We are using a pencil for these initial sketches as we could easily erase on further steps.

Step 3: Overline The Shorts And The Body

Following the rough line, continue sketching the line for the shorts and the lower body part of the character with the help of a black marker. We prefer a black marker or a pen to outline a fair part of our drawing.

Step 4: Complete Outlining the Body Parts

Mark the arms, legs, and triangular area using markers. Make sure that parts of the line are not overlined because we need it for the eyes. Take a look at the picture to make sure, you have correctly completed the process.

Step 5: Erase The Extra Lines

Remove the outline from the drawing to make it look neat and clean. This process will help us add more details carefully. Use an eraser to erase all those initial rough lines.

Step 6: Add Details on The Shorts

Now, start by drawing two vertical lines to complete Patrick’s shorts. Then, add some details to the shorts by drawing flower shapes with three and two petals, as shown in the picture.

Step 7: Draw Eyes

Then, draw two large, oval shapes next to each other near the top of Patrick’s body. These ovals should be close together, almost touching. Also, add a smaller circle for the pupils. Sketch two short, curved lines above the eyes for eyebrows.

Step 8: Sketch The Mouth And Details

Draw a wide, curved line just below the eyes for Patrick’s mouth. Make the line wide and slightly upward to show a big smile. Add some patterns to his body and complete the drawing, as shown in the image above.

We have used some basic colors. Pink has been used all over the character’s body and in his tongue. We have used a maroon color inside the mouth for more details. Then, a light green color has been used in the shorts of the character. While purple is used for the little details in the shorts. We have completely used the same color as we see on the TV show SpongeBob SquarePants.
