Step 1: Draw a Rough Circle
Sketch a reference circle to make the head of the character. You can use a compass for a perfect circle. We are using a pencil for drawing this rough references lines that we will erase it in further steps.
Step 2: Sketch The Hands
Start by drawing a little circle for the wrist part of each hand. From each circle, draw two parallel lines to shape the hands. As shown in the picture, make sure the left hand is upward and the right one is downward.
Step 3: Outline The Body
Now continue sketching the outline of the body from the hands. Then, from the bottom of the body, draw two circles to represent the legs of the character.
Step 4: Shape The Head
Following the rough line, draw the shape of the head as shown in the picture above. We are using a black marker to outline our doraemon, you can either use a black marker or a pen to outline a fair part.
Step 5: Draw The Belt
Slightly from the shape of the head, sketch the belt, adding a rough circle downward. Follow the image above to get a better guide.
Step 6: Sketch the Body Shape
Then, completely outline the body of doraemon, the arms, and the legs following the rough sketch as shown in the picture.
Step 7: Remove Extra Lines
Erase the extra line we created to make our drawing easier. We will get the perfect doraemon shape after carefully removing every unnecessary line.
Step 8: Sketch Eyes And The Nose
Now, inside the head, draw two circles for the eyes. Make sure they are even and situated accurately. For the nose, make a small circle underneath the line between the eyes.
Step 9: Add Smile
First, draw a straight line from the nose, then make a curved line downward. To finish the smile, add two short lines at each end of this curve, angling them upwards to enhance the friendliness and expressiveness of Doraemon’s smile.
Step 10: Draw Mouth
After adding curved lines just below the nose, connect the lines and make a wide, open mouth. Also, starting from one side of an eye, draw a continuous line around both eyes, connecting back to the starting point to form a circle, as shown in the picture.
Step 11: Add Details In The Belt
Then, sketch a round shape around the belt, and add some texture to make it look more realistic and natural.
Step 12: Sketch The Pocket
We all know our Doraemon pocket is full of amazing gadgets. Let’s ketch a large oval shape extending downward from the belt. Then, inside the oval, draw the pocket. The pocket can be drawn like the shape of a half-moon, as shown in the picture.
Step 13: Complete By Adding Details
To enhance Doraemon’s eyes, add smaller circles within the larger ones for pupils, and place an additional tiny circle on the nose for a highlight. Inside his mouth, draw a shallow ‘W’-shaped line for the tongue. Add six thin lines on the character’s cheeks to represent whiskers.
