Steps To Draw A Yak
The image below provides an overview of today’s drawing tutorial. This guide is for beginners and experienced artists, and children can enjoy it fully. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Draw The Head
Begin by sketching the rounded rectangle for the head in the centre of your paper roughly. We are using a pencil to sketch these rough reference lines.
Step 2: Outline The Body
Continuing from the head, draw a rounded shape for the back of the animal. Make sure to draw only half of this shape, as shown in the picture. As we are using pencil to draw it will be easier to erase mistakes.
Step 3: Add Hair
Outline the head of the yak and then sketch the shaggy hair as shown in the picture. We are using a black marker for sketching the fair part, you can either use a pen or a black marker.
Step 4: Complete The Body Outline
Use a marker and follow the rough line to draw the body outline as shown. Then, add texture to the hair to make it look realistic.
Step 5: Add Shaggy Hair on the Body
Add jagged lines below the body’s shape to represent the yak’s hair. This will give the body a textured, hairy look.
Step 6: Sketch The Legs
Now, draw four legs at the bottom of the body, each with a slight bend to indicate the joints. Make sure to add a heel-like shape at the end of each leg to represent the hooves.
Step 7: Draw Horns And Ears
Then, make an elongated ‘S’ shape on the top of the head to represent the horn of Yak. Just below each horn, draw the ears on both sides slightly outward and have a slight curve to give them a natural look.
Step 8: Remove The Outlines
In this step, carefully erase all the extra lines to make your drawing look neat and clean with the help of an eraser.
Step 9: Add Texture
Add curved lines within the body to create a textured, furry appearance, as shown in the image given. This will give a detailed look to the drawing.
Step 10: Draw Facial Features
Finally, add two small circles on the face for the eyes. Below the eyes, add two small oval shapes for the nostrils.
Coloring The Yak
Once your yak drawing is complete, start the coloring process using basic pencil colors.
Apply a brown color to the body of the yak. Use a lighter shade of brown for the face, horns, and legs. Finally, color the hooves with dark brown.
