A wolf is a large, wild dog that lives in groups called packs with a strong, muscular body, bushy tail, and thick fur and is typically grey. Here, we will share a simple step-by-step guide for drawing a wolf.

Steps To Draw A Wolf
Here are the brief instructions for today’s tutorial and attach pictures to complete your sketching easily. Follow the steps given to draw a wolf, and by the end of this tutorial, you will learn to draw it perfectly.
Step 1: Draw a Circle
In the centre of your paper, sketch a rough circle for the wolf’s head. For a perfect circle, you can also use a compass. We are using a pencil for drawing the rough sketches.
Step 2: Basic Shapes
Begin by drawing two pointy ears on the top of the circle. Then, from the head, sketch the outline of the wolf’s body, including the neck, back, and initial leg structure. This will be the skeleton part of our drawing. We will erase all these lines in further steps, so using a pencil will be the best idea.
Step 3: Sketch The Ears
Following the outline, sketch with the black marker. Make a zigzag line while making a pointed ear to give it a natural look.
Step 4: Complete The Shape of The Head
Now, from the shape of the hair, continue drawing the head. Add short lines around the cheeks to represent the fur. Then, extend the snout slightly outward to represent a wolf’s mouth.
Step 5: Outline the Nose And The Eyes
Then, draw a small oval for the nose at the end of the snout. Extend two curved lines from the nose, creating a slight curve to capture the natural shape. Then, continuing from the line of the nose, draw two curved lines on both sides for the outline of the eyes.
Step 6: Add Fury Texture
As shown in the image, sketch a fur-like texture for a wolf’s body from just below the head. Then, draw the back of the animal, adding lines for the tail.
Step 7: Draw The Front Side Legs
Next, start by drawing parallel lines on both sides, representing the legs, starting from the chest. Draw the paws at the bottom of each leg by adding small ovals for the toes.
Step 8: Sketch The Back Side Legs
Following the rough line, draw the shape of the legs. Then, add paws for the toes. While adding the back side of the legs, it will complete the wolf’s tail as well.
Step 9: Remove Extra Lines
Carefully remove the extra lines from the pencils to make the drawing neat and clean. This will also help us add details perfectly. Use an eraser to erase all those rough lines that we drew earlier.
Step 10: Draw The Eyes
Just below the outline, sketch a round shape for the eyes. Inside it, draw a tiny circle to represent the pupils. We have added a dot inside with the marker to give it a highlighted look.
This will finally complete our drawing process. If you are interested in adding a touch of colour, follow the guide below. Let’s enjoy coloring as well.
Coloring The Wolf
We have used primary color to give it a natural look. We began by coloring the body of a wolf grey. White has also been used in some parts, like inside the ear, tail, and chest. Sky blue has been used inside the eyes. For the nose, we have used a darker shade of grey. You can choose different colors while coloring.
Color Details:
- Grey
- White
- Blue
For the coloring part, we have used pencil colors; you can use any of your preferences to make it more fun. We recommend you use pencil colors.
