Steps To Draw A Snake
You can find the picture attached below to learn the basics about today’s drawing tutorial. This tutorial is for both the beginner and the experienced, while children can be the ones who will enjoy it fully. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Start with the Eyes And Nose
Draw two circles in the middle of your paper for the eyes of the snake, and then, from the left side of the eye, extend the curve line downward.
Step 2: Outline The Head
Sketch an oval line around the eyes and the head. While completing it, include a small, mountain-like shape to add detail to the snake’s head.
Step 3: Add Mouth
From below the curve shape, add a simple line for the mouth, and from the end, sketch a line to make it look natural. Complete the top of the head as well in this step. You can follow the picture above.
Step 4: Outline Body Shape
To begin drawing the body of a snake, first sketch a single curve line from the left side going to the right.
Step 5: Extend Lines
From the right side, continue extending the line to complete half of a snake body. The shape must look like an S for a dynamic and natural shape.
Step 6: Drawing Tail
As you continue to expand the lines to make the tail, gradually narrow them. Make sure the tail falls to a tip, giving the snake’s body a fine and realistic finish.
Step 7: Sketch A Line For Body Texture
From the middle of the body, sketch a straight line for further texture of the snake. Follow the demonstration above to make sure you understand the process, as this might be tricky.
Step 8: Add Texture For Scales
Sketch a light line for the texture of the snake’s body. We just sketch the small curves all around the body of the snake from top to bottom to show the scales.
Step 9: Draw The Nose And Tongue
To represent the nose, draw two small ovals, or circles, just below the eyes. Then, sketch a thin, forked tongue protruding from the mouth.
Step 10: Finish With The Eyelids
To give it a more realistic appearance, carefully draw a circle inside the eye, add another, smaller circle, and finally sketch in black using your pencil. Additionally, we added a tiny bit of brightness to the second circle.
This will complete your drawing. If you want to add a touch of color to your sketch, follow the coloring steps we have for you below.
Coloring The Snake
After completely drawing, we decided to add some color to make it more fun. We have used dark green in the eyes and nostrils. A light green color has been used in the body of the animal. We will be adding a lighter shade of green to the texture of the snake’s body. And, the bright red color has been used for the tongue.
Color Details:
- Light Green
- Dark Green
- Green Yellow
- Red
For coloring, we have used pencil color; you can use any of your preferences, like crayon or watercolor. But we suggest you use a pencil to not mess up the sketch.
