Pandas are large bears from China known for their black and white fur. They eat bamboo and live in mountain forests. They are iconic animals known worldwide for their unique appearance. In this tutorial, we will share easy steps to draw a panda.
Pandas are gentle and mostly solitary, and because their numbers are low, people work hard to protect them. They are easily recognizable by their large, round faces, black fur around their eyes and ears, and black patches on their ears, shoulders, and legs.
Stay with us until the end of both the drawing and coloring processes. We will complete drawing the panda in seven steps and provide the coloring step.

Steps To Draw Panda
Here is a short preview of today’s tutorial. This is designed for both beginners and kids, so by the end of this guide, you can draw it perfectly. We hope you will enjoy every step below while drawing a panda. Let’s proceed with the step-by-step instructions for drawing a panda.
Step 1: Draw The Head
Begin by sketching an oval or round shape for the head, slightly to the left. This will lay the foundation for the panda’s face and body position.
Step 2: Sketch The Hand
Next, outline the panda’s hand extending from the body. Position it as if the panda is waving, keeping the lines smooth and basic to maintain the playful gesture, as shown in the image above.
Step 3: Add The Body Shape
Extend a curved line from the head to form the panda’s body. This line connects smoothly with the hand we created previously. Make sure you have placed the body shape slightly backward to match the animal’s head.
Step 4: Sketch The Legs
Draw short, curved lines extending down from the body to form the legs, as given in the image. Keep the lines simple and gentle, resembling rounded shapes, to maintain the panda’s cuddly look.
Step 5: Add Ears
Draw two small ovals or rounded shapes to represent its ears above the head. Add them symmetrically on either side of the head. These ears should be smaller compared to the head to give it a natural look.
Step 6: Draw the Facial Structure
Draw two circles in the center of the panda’s head to represent its eyes. Add shading inside the eyes with a pencil to give them a natural look. Then, within each eye, add a smaller circle with a white color to create a highlight. Next, draw a triangular shape for the nose and two curved lines for the mouth, adding a friendly expression.
Step 7: Final Touch
In the ear, hand, and legs, add black color for the highlights and to give life to your drawing. This will complete the drawing process.
After completing the sketching process, look at the complete picture to ensure you have not missed anything. If you are interested in adding a touch of color, follow the guide below. Let’s enjoy coloring as well. The coloring part is always fun, and kids enjoy it.
Coloring The Panda
After sketching the bow, we came into the coloring section. We used only one basic color for coloring. You can choose your preference and continue the coloring process. You can use a pencil color for the process or use a black marker for a bright color. Some of you might prefer to use water or cannon color, but we recommend using a pencil color to avoid messing up your sketch.
We have just used black and pink colors to complete the coloring process. Pink has been used for the blush on the cheek. Then, black color is used on the ear, hands, and legs, as given in the image.
Color Details:
- Black
- Pink
Finally, our cute-looking panda is ready with a touch of basic color and a happy face. Additionally, if you are interested, you can outline the sketch with the help of a marker for a neat and clean drawing.
Compare your drawing closely with the reference picture provided to ensure you have accurately captured all the details and achieved a close resemblance. This step is crucial to refining your drawing so that it closely matches the desired outcome and accurately portrays the subject.
