Steps To Draw A Monkey
Here’s a brief preview of today’s tutorial. Follow the steps below to easily draw a monkey in a step by step manner.

Step 1: Draw Rough Sketches

To begin, create a rough sketch by drawing a circle for the head of a monkey. You can use a compass or any circular object to achieve the desired shape. We are using a pencil to draw a rough sketch as we will erase it on further steps.
Step 2: Draw Monkey Body Structure

Next, sketch the monkey body skeleton roughly. Start by drawing curved lines to outline the arms, body, and legs. Shape it according to the image provided above.
Step 3: Outline Monkey Face

Now, using the rough circle as a guide, outline the monkey’s face as shown in the image above. Form an “m” shape at the upper head giving the cheeks a slightly bulkier appearance with a small pointed chin.
Step 4: Draw Head, Hair and Ears

Likewise, draw a curved line for the head following the reference of the circle. And, sketch two ears on the right and left sides of the monkey as depicted in the drawing. Additionally, at the top of the head, draw zig-zag lines to represent the monkey’s hair.
Step 5: Draw Hands

Extend two lines from the head of the monkey to represent the shoulders. Then draw the monkey’s hands with fingers folded as in the image above.
Step 6: Draw Belly & Leg

Now, draw an “m” shaped belly for the monkey, and then sketch the right leg. Then, complete the drawing by adding toes to the monkey foot.
Step 7: Draw Tail and Left Leg

Likewise, sketch the right leg referring to the rough sketches, and add toes at the end. Next, draw a long tail as depicted in the image.
Step 8: Erase Rough Lines

Now, erase all the initial rough lines that were drawn earlier, leaving behind the refined and detailed drawing of the monkey.
Step 9: Sketch Eyes and Eyebrows

Moving on to the monkey’s face, draw two circular eyes. Now above each eye, sketch a short curved line to represent the eyebrows.
Step 10: Sketch the Mouth and Tongue

Finally, illustrate the curvy nose and mouth of the monkey, sketching a cute big laughing expression. Inside the mouth, draw an “m” shape to represent the tongue. Complete the ears by outlining their shape. Finally, we have our cute monkey with a laughing expression.
Coloring a Monkey
Once the drawing of the cute monkey is complete, we can proceed with coloring. We’ve chosen some basic colors for guidance, but feel free to fill in the colors according to your preferences.
For coloring our monkey, we use brown for the body and light brown for the inside of the ears. Then we apply a skin color for the belly, hands, ears, and face.
Colour Details:
- Light Brown
- Skin
- Brown
- Black

After coloring, we get a cute monkey. You can use a pencil color (We made it digital). Alternatively, you even can change colors while coloring.
