Steps To Draw A Lizard
We have a video tutorial above that you can follow as well. You can see a short demo in the image below.
There are many species of lizards, but today we are going to draw the common lizards that we commonly see in our houses. Lizards have a cylindrical body, short neck, and long tail and body. Follow the steps below to easily draw a lizard step by step.
Step 1: Draw Oval
We begin by sketching a rough reference marking. Start by drawing an oval slightly pointed to the left side as demonstrated in the image above. Use a pencil for drawing as we will be erased in subsequent steps.
Step 2: Draw Rough Body
Next, sketch the oval roughly to outline the lizard’s body as shown in the image above. Additionally, roughly draw the lizard’s forelegs and outline the hind legs as demonstrated in the image. Finally, sketch a tail roughly too.
Step 3: Outline Lizard Head
Now, sketch the lizard head using the reference lines drawn in steps 1 and 2 as in the image above. Utilize a marker for this step. Additionally, make a marking to indicate the lizard’s mouth as shown in the image.
Step 4: Draw Foreleg and Upper Body
Likewise, draw one foreleg bending toward the head of the lizard as depicted in the image above. Then, sketch the upper body outline of the lizard following the references of the rough lines drawn earlier.
Step 5: Draw Foreleg and Claws
Claws help lizards for crawling on the walls. Now, draw the foreleg attaching to the head and body of the lizard with a claw as shown in the image above. Additionally, draw the five clawed fingers of the lizard.
Step 6: Complete Lizard Body and Hind Legs
Likewise, draw curvy lines to complete the lizard’s body as shown in the image above. Ensure that you draw lines extending from the forelegs sketched in Step 5. Also, finish the drawing of the hind leg of the lizard with a half claw as illustrated in the image above.
Step 7: Draw Another Hindleg with Claws
Now, draw the hind leg with claws attached to the body of the lizard as shown in the image above.
Step 8: Draw Long Tail
We have just completed drawing the lizard’s body. Now, draw a long, elongated lizard tail as shown in the image above.
Step 9: Erase Rough Lines
Afterwards, erase all the rough lines drawn in various steps which were used as reference lines.
Step 10: Draw Lizard Eye
We have just completed drawing the lizard’s body. To finish, draw a circular lizard’s eye as shown in the image above. Add a small curved line to represent the lizard’s nose.
Coloring a Lizard
After completing the drawing of the cute lizard, let’s move forward with coloring. For this, we have selected some basic colors.
As some lizards are green and some are brown in color, we fill the green color while coloring it. And fill the eye with the yellow color. You can fill the color according to our wish too.
Alternatively, you can fill this lizard kinda of brown or light brown too.
Color Details:
- Yellow
- Green
After coloring, we get a realistic lizard. You can use a pencil color (we made it digital).
