Steps To Draw A House
You can view a brief demonstration in the image below. Follow the detailed stepwise instructions below to easily draw a small beautiful house.
Step 1: Draw House Base
We are starting by drawing three straight lines to create a rectangular shape with an opening at the top as depicted in the image above. This is the base of the house. You may use a ruler for precision.
Step 2: Draw a Roof
Now, sketch a triangular curve to form the roof of the house as shown in the image above. We get the side look of the house with the roof.
Step 3: Draw House Side Wall
Then, draw a line extending from the lower base point of the house, then connect it upward to form the side wall of the house as depicted in the image above.
Step 4: Complete Roof
Likewise, draw three lines above to finalize the roof of the house as shown in the image above. We finally get the outline of the house.
Step 5: Draw Garage
To complete the house, draw a straight line from the base point and connect it upward to form a garage. Close the top by drawing two lines to create the garage roof on the left side of the house as illustrated in the image above.
Step 6: Draw a Windows
To add windows to the house draw a small rectangle. Inside it draw another layer of rectangle to create a bold border for the windows. Then, draw a plus “+” inside the rectangle to complete the windows as shown in the image above. Follow the same process to draw two more windows, one at a wall and one at the garage.
Step 7: Draw a Door, Chimney & Window
Next, let’s sketch a door, a chimney, and a window at the top. Draw a rectangle with an opening at the lower end at the base of the house. Inside it, draw another layer of rectangle to form the door border. Lastly, draw a small bold dot to represent a lockset on the door as illustrated in the image above.
Now, draw a rectangular chimney at the top of the house. Add some irregular lines inside the chimney to provide texture as demonstrated in the image above.
Additionally, draw a curved window on the front wall behind the roof of the house following the image above.
Step 8: Draw Suburbs & Path
To complete the final look, draw some suburbs around the house and include a small path at the door as depicted in the image above. Finally, we sketched the house with a garage and some shrubs growing around the house.
Coloring a House
Once the drawing of the house is finished, proceed to the coloring stage. We’ve selected some basic colors, but feel free to choose your own colors according to your preference.
We filled the walls of the house with a yellow color and applied dark orange to the roof. The windows’ glass is filled with light blue, and the door and chimney are colored brown. Dark brown is used for the borders of the door, chimney, and windows. Lastly, we applied light green to the shrubs around the house.
Colour Details:
- Dark Orange
- Yellow
- Brown
- Darn Brown
- Light Green
- Light Blue
After coloring, we got a beautiful small house. You can use a pencil color (we made it digital).
