Steps To Draw A Camel
We have a brief outline of today’s tutorial. Follow the steps given to draw a camel and by the end of this tutorial, you will learn to draw it perfectly.
Step 1: Roughly Sketch Basic Shapes
Begin by drawing the large oval shape of the camel’s body, as shown in the picture. Then, create a long, curved line for the neck. At the end of the neck, draw a small oval for the head.
Also, outline the two straight lines extending down from the front of the body for the front legs and from the back of the body for the back legs. Draw one of the rounded humps on the camel’s back and a slightly straight line at the back to later sketch the tail. This is just for reference. So, use a pencil to sketch this part.
Step 2: Draw Neck And The Head
Following the rough line we created in step 1, sketch the neck and the shape of the head with a pen marker. As shown in the image, while drawing the head, add two half circles pointing upward to represent the ear. Make sure to include the tiny mouth shape as well.
Step 3: Create a Tail
Now, drawing a line downward from the curve of the neck makes a tail. At the bottom, refine it by drawing an oval shape and applying a fuzzy texture.
Step 4: Refine The Legs
Following the outline, draw the front and back legs as shown in the picture above. Then, sketch small, rounded shapes at the ends of the legs for its hooves. Add details to the hooves by drawing the curved lines inside of them.
Step 5: Remove Overlines
Erase all the extra lines from the drawing carefully to later details. This step will make our sketch look neat and clean.
Step 6: Add Texture To Humps
Draw short, curved lines to represent fur in the humps. Make sure it looks the same as what we have shown in the image above.
Step 7: Draw Facial Features
As the half-side of the camel face is only seen in our drawing, sketch the eye on the right side. Draw a circle, then add pupils and little highlights for natural looks. Add a tiny dot to represent the nose, just below the eye. Then, create a smile on the face of the camel.
This will finally complete our drawing process. If you are interested in adding a touch of color, follow the guide below. Let’s enjoy coloring as well.
Coloring The Camel
We have used basic color to give it a natural look. Brown has been applied to the back side of the tail, and the hump. Then we applied beige, commonly known as sand shade, to the body. The backside of the legs is a little draker than the front, but you may simply apply biege color all over the body and legs.
Color Details:
- Brown

For the coloring part, we have used pencil colors; you can use any of your preferences to make it more fun. We recommend you use pencil colors.
