Steps To Draw A Bow
Here’s a brief preview of today’s tutorial on drawing a bow. Along with steps to draw, we will add every step so you can enjoy coloring it. Please go through the instructions step by step to complete your sketch. By the end of this guide, you will be able to draw easily and with perfection.
Step 1: Sketch a Circle
Begin by drawing an oval shape or circle in the center or where you want to place the bow. This will help us add details easily later.
Step 2: Draw The Right Side Loop
Connecting the circle shape to the center, draw the loop, which looks like the shape of a butterfly wing. Make sure they are symmetrical and placed in the same place they need to be. If you have any confusion while following the guide, you can find the reference image above.
Step 3: Add Loop
Following the same process while making the right lopp, start with the curved line from the center and draw the shape like butterfly wings.
Step 4: Outline The Bow
To add depth to the bow, add an inner outline to the bottom of both loops. Draw a curved line that extends downward at the bottom of each loo, curving backwards.
Step 5: Add The Ribbon
From the bottom left of the knot, draw a straight or slightly curved line downward to create a ribbon. For the ribbon tail, draw a V-like shape, as shown in the picture above.
Step 6: Draw The Right-Side Ribbon Shape
Follow the same step for the left side of the ribbon. Draw two straight or curved lines, and then add a tail to them for a proper ribbon look.
Step 7: Final Touches
Complete your drawing by adding a rough line to the bow and ribbon, as given in the image. Ensure that both sides of the bow are symmetrical and have a natural look. In just seven steps, we have completed drawing a bow. After completing the sketching process, take a look at the complete picture to make sure you have not missed anything.
If you are interested in adding a touch of color, follow the guide below. Let’s enjoy coloring as well. The coloring part is always fun, and kids enjoy it.
Coloring The Bow
After sketching the bow, we came into the coloring section. We used only one basic color for coloring. You can choose your own preference and continue the coloring process.
Most bows we see in real life, cartoons, or sketches are often red, so we have used the red color all over them. You can reference the picture we have placed of our drawing. The color red will make the bow appear bright and vibrant.

After coloring, we got the perfect shape and a colorful bow to place on gifts. We used pencil color for the coloring process; watercolor and cartoon color can also be used. But we recommend you use pencil color so as not to mess up your sketch.
Additionally, if you are interested, you can outline the sketch with the help of a marker for a neat and clean drawing.
