Steps To Draw Dussehra
In this simple guide, we’ll help you draw a Dussehra warrior step-by-step. Just follow the instructions, and by the end, you’ll have your drawing of a powerful warrior from the Dussehra festival. Please follow the steps carefully to complete your sketch, this art is designed for both kids and beginners, so anyone can draw it easily. Let’s start.
Step 1: Start With The Shape Of The Head
Before you start drawing, let’s prepare the paper by dividing it into sections. This will help you plan your drawing and place all the elements neatly. Then, sketch the shape of the warrior’s head. It should look like a rounded oval with a slightly angular chin to give a strong face shape.
Step 2: Draw the Eyebrows
Add two thick, curved eyebrows at the top of the head to show a determined expression of the character. Along with the shape of the eyebrow, sketch a bold line on the right side of the head to represent some hair lines.
Step 3: Refine the Mustache
Sketch a large, curled mustache as shown in the image given. Make sure the mustache curls upward and looks thick.
Step 4: Add the Nose
Just above the mustache, sketch a hooked or curved nose. Make sure the bottom part of the nose overlaps a bit with the top of the mustache, and the tip of the nose points slightly upward for a bold look. Also, add a curved line above the mustache to represent the mouth.
Step 5: Sketch the Outer Part of the Eyes
Draw two almond-shaped ovals for the shape of the eyes. These will be the outline of the eyes. Make sure both eyes are the same size and shape for balance.
Step 6: Add Details Into The Eyes
Sketch a small circle inside each eye to create the pupils. Add a smaller circle inside the pupil for a highlight. This tiny circle will make the eyes appear more alive.
Step 7: Sketch Tilak
Draw an elongated oval-shaped tilak in the center of the forehead. The shape should be slightly pointed at both the top and bottom.
Step 8: Add Details
To complete the design of the tilak, draw two lines overlapping the center of it. This will give the tilak a more expressive appearance, adding a unique touch to the Dussehra warrior’s character.
Step 9: Sketch the Helmet
Then, add the helmet at the top of the head, with flowing, wavy lines as shown in the image given. These lines should curve outward, giving the helmet a decorative look.
Step 10: Add a Circle
Draw a small circle in the centre of the forehead, slightly curved at the side of it, just above the tilak. This circle can represent an ornament on the helmet.
Step 11: Draw the Bow
On the right side of the head, outline a bow. Make two curved lines that come together at the top and bottom, with small curls at the ends.
Step 12: Sketching the Arrow
Firstly, complete the drawing of the bow by sketching a complete straight line. Then, inside the bow, draw a straight line for the arrow. Add a pointed tip on one end and small triangle feathers on the other end.
Step 13: Draw the Outer Part Of the Helmet
Add the outline of the helmet around the head, making sure it extends slightly outward from the inner shape. The helmet should have a curved shape that fits well on the top of the head.
Step 14: Refine the Details
Draw a straight line first and add a row of small triangles below the word to complete the decoration as given in the image above.
Step 15 : Add Dussehra
Just above the row of small triangles, write the word “Dussehra” in neat, clear letters without adding any unnecessary lines. This step will complete our drawing. If you have missed anything, go through the step-wise image and make sure it is perfect. Now, let’s proceed to the coloring process.
Coloring the Dussehra Scenario
We have used basic colors for this drawing, but feel free to choose colors of your preference. We recommend you use pencil color, but watercolor or crayons can be fun sometimes.
Start with a light brown or orange tone to represent the skin. Carefully, complete coloring the skin color without messing up the extra lines. Then, we used green color for the outer part of the helmet and yellow for the inner.
Red has been used for tilak and the circle of the detail in the helmet. For the extra lines of tilak, we have used white along with the mouth of the Dussehra character. Blue color has been used for the pupils of the eyes. To complete the coloring process, we ended by adding different colors to the triangle at the bottom. Finally, this will complete our coloring process.
Color Details:
- Green
- Yellow
- Skin/ Orange
- Red
- White
- Blue
You can use a black marker to trace over the pencil lines. This will make the outlines stand out and give the drawing a clean, polished look. This final step will complete the overall appearance of your Dussehra warrior and make your artwork look more professional!
