The turkey is a large fowl that is a popular form of poultry. It is the same species as the wild turkey, which is native to the Americas. In this tutorial, we are learning how you can draw a turkey.
In this tutorial, we will show you step by step drawing of a turkey for kids. We will start by sketching some rough lines and outlining our turkey. We will begin with a light pencil, and we’ll refine it as we go along.

Steps To Draw A Turkey
Turkeys are large, plump birds with long legs, wide tails, and small heads. Here you can preview the short demo in the image below. Follow the steps below to easily draw a turkey step by step.
Step 1: Draw Rough Sketches
Begin by creating preliminary sketches of our turkey. Start by roughly outlining an oval shape in the center. Next, extend two straight lines to the right from the oval, and then draw a small circle at the top. We used a pencil to draw these initial sketches.
Step 2: Sketch The Head And Beak Of Turkey
Now, utilizing the preliminary lines as a guide, draw the head of the turkey. Additionally, outline the beak of the turkey based on the initial sketches. While outling use a marker or a pen.
Step 3: Draw Wattle & Neck
Next, draw the wattle of the turkey below the beak and sketch a long, thin neck as shown in the drawing above.
Step 4: Draw Caruncles Of Neck
After that, draw caruncles on the sides of the turkey’s neck as shown in the image above. Start from the neck and sketch a curvy line all around the neck of the turkey.
Step 5: Outline Turkey Body And Wings
Now sketch the turkey wing on the right side and outline the body of the turkey as shown in the image above.
Step 6: Draw Left Wings
Again, draw the left wings with three feathers pointed as shown in the drawing above.
Step 7: Draw the Feet of Turkey
Similarly, draw two feet for our turkey by starting with the hock, then drawing a shank, and finally, end by drawing three claws on both legs.
Step 8: Draw Tail Coverts
Now, for the tail draw four tail-coverts on the right side as shown in the image. Create curved joined lines at the back to sketch tail coverts. Repeat the same step four times to complete our turkey tail on right side.
Step 9: Draw Turkey Tail
Similarly, now draw more turkey tail coverts to complete the tail on the left side till the end. You can also add more tail feathers according to your choice.
Step 10: Erase All Rough Lines
Now erase all the rough lines that we drew in the earlier step. Finally, we get a clear look at our turkey.
Step 11: Draw Eyes And Tongue
Lastly, draw the cute eyes of the turkey, and inside the mouth, draw a small line to represent the tongue of the turkey. And we draw some curves on the belly to represent the furs.
Coloring a Turkey
After the drawing of the cute turkey is completed we move forward with coloring the turkey. For coloring, we chose some basic colors. You can choose your color scheme and fill in the colors as you like.
Firstly, we color the body of the turkey with a shade of brown, and then we add a touch of red for the Wattle. We use yellow for the beak and feet, and for the eyes, we use a small black dot.
